PHELANGPI, May 17: With the aim of developing and rejuvenating water bodies, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council EM Mongal Sing Timung laid the foundation stone for Amrit Sarovar scheme at Kabung Pharno Adong under the Rongkhang Development Block inside the West Karbi Anglong district here today.
The foundation stone was laid at a small event attended by Hamren VDC chairman Mohan Rongphar, Jengkha Municipal Board chairman Sarsing Phangcho, Harlongsora LAMPS Chairman Pitor Timung, Rongkhang Development Block Executive Engineer Ganesh Timung and others.
While speaking at the event, EM Timung after laying the foundation stone stated that out of the 12 bighas, 7.5 bighas would be utilized for the reservoir while the remaining land would be used for construction and plantation.
Later in the day, the EM also attended BJP Hamren Constituency extended meeting convened at the Jengkha Irrigation Bungalow. The meeting was chaired by Hamren Bharatiya Janata Party Mondal Committee president Sarsing Phangcho and attended by PHE Board chairman Joelwelson Tokbi, Hamren Cooperative ex-chairman Joysing Engti, Mahila Morcha president Kabon Engtipi, VDC chairman Mohan Rongphar and secretaries of 21 polling stations.
During the meeting, newly appointed office bearers of the Kishan Morcha and OBC Morcha were also felicitated by the party.
Speaking at the meeting, EM Mongal Sing Timung called upon party members and workers to continue their hard work and commitment towards strengthening the party. He also urged the party workers to ensure the government schemes are properly executed to enable the people to get their benefits to the fullest.
